OUR STORY

1994

We first began selling Turtle Mats in the muddy fields of county fairs across the country - James would often be seen at these events demonstrating the dirt-trapping powers of Turtle Mats, just like in the video above.

It seems only apt that The Turtle Mat Company was born at the same time that "Wet Wet Wet" were number one in the UK Charts!

2000

In December 2000, just as Broadband began rolling out with speeds of up to 1MB (!) we launched the Turtle Mat website - take a look at where our online life began. I think you'll agree we've come a long way.

2004

We published our first catalogue in 2004 to showcase our collection of designs, new products and tips on how to care for your doormat. With your support, we've been sending out our annual catalogue ever since and our collection has grown to over 100 designs.

2005

The first (of many) collaborations with great British institutions and designers began with our inaugural collection for The Royal Horticultural Society. Nearly 15 years on, that partnership is still going strong - here's the collection then and now.

2009

We launched our best-selling Cape Cod outdoor doormat range in 2009 with three colours - Coffee, Evergreen and Black and they were an immediate success. Made in the US these robust scraper mats are the perfect complement to Turtle Mats and are now available in doormat and runner sizes.

2012

As the summer Olympics came to London, we also came to London to exhibit at RHS Chelsea Flower Show for the first time! The first year saw us under a 'Chelsea Hat' (a tented stand) and from there we caught the Chelsea bug and have been a regular fixture ever since, taking a corner of the main avenue - a spot we affectionately call Turtle Corner. The show has been and is a wonderful opportunity to meet our fantastic customers and showcase new designs and collections and we look forward to seeing some of you there at the next show - please stop by to say hello! NOW

We've built a range of successful in-house "Turtle Collection" designs and are working with some of the brightest and best in design such as Scion Living as well as wonderful charities such as National Trust and Eden Project. We're a stalwart fixture at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and Crufts (if you're visiting be sure to say hello) and are very proud to have had your support for the last 25 years, so thank you from all of us here at Turtle House.
